Mountains of Men (2017)

For the series ‘Mountains of Men’, I edited my own photographs as well as appropriated promotional headshots from Hollywood actors/executives to reflect on the 2017 ‘Me Too’ allegations of sexual abuse, harassment and sex crimes in the entertainment industry. The project gradually evolved from me experimenting with collage techniques to a more layered series about cinematic objectification, the anonimity of victimhood and the shifting power dynamics between (female) actors and (male) directors/photographers. I’m very interested in the way this dynamic is influenced and changed by social activism. With this project, I also explored my own position as a male creator with a deep love for cinema.
